“And when they had opened their treasures,
they presented unto Him gifts;
gold and frankincense and myrrh.

~Matthew 2:11~

Welcome to Dayton Avenue this morning.  Our prayer is that you will be strengthened in your faith and drawn closer to our Lord, Jesus Christ.  The verse above reminds us that the wise men recognized the majesty of Jesus, and they honored Him by making a special journey to see Him and by presenting their gifts.  You made a journey here today, and it is our prayer that you are truly able to worship Jesus and meet with Him in a special way.

Each year during December, Southern Baptist churches join together to receive a special offering for worldwide missions, referred to as the Lottie Moon Missions offering.  We will be highlighting some of what God is doing in the lives of people around the world, via videos, each week this month.  God is accomplishing things that are much bigger than what we could imagine through our gifts.  So please join me in praying for how God would have us respond.

Snow has begun to fall!  We occasionally have to cancel church during the winter months.  Level 3 snow emergencies mean we must cancel; Level 2s are probable cancellations. Check our Facebook (Dayton Avenue Baptist Church), our website (www.daytonave.org), or tune into WHIO-TV (channel 7 or whiotv.com) for cancellation notices.  As always, exercise wisdom in deciding whether or not to stay home, and remember, our Sunday morning 11:00 am service is live-streamed.

This evening is the Cedarville University Community Christmas Concert at 6:00pm, so we will not have our regular evening service here at church.  This Wednesday night is a special OutPour event – the Great British OutPour Chili Contest (I’ll share more details with you this morning).  Sunday evening December 16th is the budget adoption year-end business meeting.  Lots going on!!  God bless you this week.
