“Prove me, O LORD, and try me; test my heart
and my mind. For your steadfast love is before
my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness.”
Good morning and welcome to worship at Dayton Avenue. Thank you for coming to church today. It takes courage to come to church because when we study God’s Word, it convicts us as well as encourages us. I pray that we have come ready to hear from God and willing for Him to change us today.
We welcome Dr. James Risner, his wife Jenny, and their family this morning. I met James almost five years ago when he became the Senior Pastor of Brantwood Baptist Church in Dayton, and he has been a great encouragement to me. I know we’ll be blessed as he shares God’s Word with us this morning from Philippians 2.
Today is the last Sunday of the semester for many of our college students. We love you and are so thankful that you have made us your church family. We want to recognize all who are graduating (with any college degree) at the beginning of worship at both 9:30 and 11:00 this morning – we wish the Lord’s best for each of you.
This Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. Many of you will be participating in various prayer events around our community. Ladies, you are invited to a prayer breakfast here at church (details are inside this bulletin). Looking ahead, Saturday May 12th is the WALK 4 LIFE event here in Xenia. Our church helps sponsor this event in support of the Miami Valley Women’s Center. If you would like to walk with us or are interested in more information, call in to the church office this week.
If all goes well with my flights, I plan to be back in church with you all this morning. Thank you again for praying for me while I was teaching in Mongolia. I can’t wait to tell you about it. May the Lord shine His face upon you this week as you live for Him.
