Welcome to Dayton Avenue today. If you are a guest, please make sure that you visit the Welcome Table and get a little loaf of homemade bread as well as a guest card. We are glad that you are here. I would greatly appreciate it if you fill out that card and give it to me afterward. We promise not to put you on a mailing list (but I will send you a letter and thank you for your visit).
The verse above acknowledges that we all go through times of despair, but if our hope is in God, He will help our countenance. That is the subject of the message this morning, and I am praying that the Lord gives us all a spiritual lift and a facelift today.
We need your help with the Xenia Buc’s football dinner on Thursday evening this week and our upcoming Dayton Avenue Community Block Party outreach on Sunday afternoon, October 12th from 4:30-7:30. More information is inside this bulletin and at the information tables in the foyer areas today.
There is another important date to put on your calendar. We have been on the search for a new Children’s Ministry Director for over a year, and we have invited Elizabeth Newton to come as a candidate in view of a call for that position on Sunday, October 19th. We will introduce her in both services, but there will also be a special Q&A session for parents at 9:45am in the Fellowship Hall (Room 301). That evening, we will hold a special business meeting to share information and then vote. Pastor Ken and I would be happy to answer any questions you have in the meantime… just speak to us.
We worship an amazing, awesome God – and we rarely take time to consider just how truly awesome He is and how wonderful it is that He loves us and knows us each by name. God has truly blessed us.
