Worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. ~1st Peter 3:15~

Welcome to Dayton Avenue this morning.  We have been praying for the Joy of the Lord to fill this place today.  Each of us has a part in that happening: by our singing to each other, our thoughts, our words of encouragement to each other, and even our smiles.  Thank you for coming and actively, joyfully worshiping today.

An old Chinese proverb says, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”  I like that proverb, and I also like the updated version: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cash advance!

Each of us is on a journey which requires action and it carries a cost.  Take a moment this morning to consider your own journey.  Am I on the right road – to heaven?  Have I stepped out in faith on this journey?  Did I break down on the way because I hadn’t considered the cost?  Am I following a detour?  Have I learned to surrender to God’s will as He takes me down unfamiliar bends in the road?  We are here you help you – don’t hesitate to call on us, your pastors.

Our growing church ministry means that we need to expand our Deacon Committee. Any member may nominate a deacon; there are guidelines in our constitution (which is on our church website under the About Us tab in the What We Believe section). Nominations will close on Sunday, March 22nd. Thank you.

This evening at 6:00, Bill Babione will be equipping us in The Art of Conversational Evangelism.  I am personally excited to learn from Bill, and I encourage each of you to join the series.  The Avenue Kids’ Choir starts up again, too! And looking ahead a few months, we will be celebrating our church’s 60th Anniversary on Sunday, April 19th.  More information will be coming your way in the weeks ahead.  We love you, we are praying for you, and we thank the Lord for you.
