But He knows the way I take;
when He has tried me,
I shall come forth as gold.
Welcome to worship at Dayton Avenue. Job’s words above both encourage and challenge us because he spoke them during a period of excruciating difficulty. He viewed it all as God’s purifying fire, and so he responded in a way that, when it was over, God could make him gold. We need that kind of trust all the time, whether we are surprised with unexpected twists along our path or we experience God’s paths of blessing. He has begun a good work in us, and He will be faithful to complete what He has started (Phil. 1:6).
Our new Grief Share ministry began last month to help and encourage folks after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. Each meeting covers stand-alone material, so you are welcome to join us this Thursday evening, February 8th at 6:30. Brochures are available for you at the information table in the foyer. A Baptism Celebration will happen soon. If you have received Jesus as your Savior and are ready to take this important step of obedience and identification as His follower, please let me know so you can be included.
Last Sunday we received several new church members: Paul, Melanie, and Christy Schloemer, Devin Young, and Hannah Zettlemoyer (under Watchcare membership). Please welcome them this morning if you didn’t get a chance to do so last week. If you are interested in learning more about Dayton Avenue, you are invited to the New Member Info Luncheon after church next Sunday. Meet our Pastors and their families and ask your questions; just fill out the bulletin insert RSVP.
Tonight is the Super Bowl (in case you hadn’t heard!). Many of you have plans to be with family and friends for the game. Our Evening Service is moved up to 5:00pm during which time we’ll continue our study through the book of 1st Samuel. Enjoy your evening plans together. Don’t hesitate to call on us this week. We love you.
