Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you. ~Isaiah 46:4~
Good morning and welcome to worship at Dayton Avenue. No matter what circumstances you have experienced this week, the Lord has gathered us together to worship Him and to become more like Him. Today is our Senior Adult Sunday as we express our appreciation for our seniors and the vital role they play in our church and its ministries. The verse above reminds us that every one of us is totally dependent upon God for all our days and I believe that those who finish well are worthy of honor. We will also recognize one in particular – the Senior Adult of the Year – for faithful and exceptional service to our church.
I am also happy to welcome Rev. Gerry Kimble to the pulpit for this morning’s message. Gerry and Cathy have only recently come to our church, but it already feels like they have been a part of our church family for a long time! I am confident the Lord will speak through him to all of us this morning.
There will be no evening service here at church tonight – we have encouraged our LifeGroups to use the evening as an opportunity to fellowship and do ministry together. Some are doing Saturate Xenia dvd distribution, some are holding events that are designed to reach out to new friends who are not part of a church or small group yet. If you have not connected with a LifeGroup here at Dayton Avenue yet, may I lovingly encourage you to make that a goal this summer? You will discover that being part of a LifeGroup will deepen your spiritual growth, personal joy, and ministry effectiveness. Stop by the Welcome desk so we can help you get started.
Next Sunday morning we will be observing The Lord’s Table – communion – together with our children present. God bless you!
