“Those who know Your name will put
their trust in You, for You, O LORD, have not
forsaken those who seek You.”
Welcome to worship at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church. Today we are highlighting the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. More Christians are persecuted and martyred on our watch than at any other time in history since the Church began. We owe a debt of solidarity to our persecuted brothers and sisters, and I ask you to join me this week in a concerted wave of prayer. In our café area hangs a poster with suggestions about how to pray for this need. For even more info, visit idop.org or icommittopray.com.
As Thanksgiving Day approaches, we have so much to thank God and others for. We live in a free America and are able to worship the Lord today without fear of oppression (thank you Veterans). We have access to clean food and water, comfortable homes, education, and legal protection – all of these would be luxuries to billions of people living in our world today. I personally get to work with a wonderful team of church staff, pastors, ministry leaders, and church family here at Dayton Avenue. What Huge Blessings all of these are!
This evening at 6:00pm is our annual budget preview business meeting. We encourage you to be a part of the process and ask questions, too. We’ll also vote on other recommendations from the nominating, missions, and deacon committees.
Mark your calendars for this year’s Church Family Service Auction, which will be happening on the evening of January 14th. If you have no idea what that is, find someone who was here last year and they’ll explain to you how great it was! Last Sunday, Jordan Clingenpeel, Kristopher Gibboney, and Andy & Kari Mayes (daughters Kennedy and Amelia) joined our church! If you haven’t done so already, please look for them and welcome them personally.
We love you and are here for you. May God bless you this week.
