“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
to which indeed you were called in one body;
and be thankful.”
Welcome fellow-worshipers! When we place our faith in Jesus and entrust our lives to Him, we have inexpressible, inner joy. But we try to express it anyway through worshiping together! I hope each of us is infected with that joy today.
Today is Covenant Sunday – an opportunity for us to renew our commitment to the Lord and to our church family, including a time of communion in observing the Lord’s Table. This evening we’ll hear reports from Kris DeWitt and Loren Reno from their recent mission trips, and then enjoy a Thanksgiving Pie Social! Plan on coming back tonight at 6:00 and bring some yummy pie! There will be no services this Wednesday evening – enjoy a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
Because of the recent church and school shootings, many people have been asking if we have a security plan here at Dayton Avenue. There are several of our folks who have the proper training and are serving as our eyes and ears each week; however, we have been reviewing this and will update our plans in the weeks ahead.
We will be having another Baptism Celebration service on Sunday, December 10th. If you have come to the place in your personal faith in Jesus that you want to publically testify through baptism that you belong to Him, please speak with one of the pastors so that you can be included. Last Sunday, Laura Leighninger & Ian and Isaac Leighninger joined our church! If you haven’t done so already, please look for them and welcome them personally.
God is at work here in our church and in our community, and it is humbling to think God is involving us in it. We (your pastors) love you and uphold each of you in prayer. Thank you for your faithful labor of love to the Lord through our church. We are praying for God’s highest blessings on each of you as you live for Him this holiday season.
