“Put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.”
Welcome to Dayton Avenue this morning. For those of you who are visiting, today’s service – which we are calling Sexual Integrity Sunday – it’s unusual and needs some explanation.
At the end of May, our church family experienced a wake-up call when a recording device was discovered in one of the bathrooms during a non-church event. The Lord has worked for His glory in this situation over the summer in our church family, the victims, the court system, and the offender. There has been biblical repentance, and restoration is progressing. But more needed to be done to pro-actively address the issue of sexual integrity with our church family.
So we have invited special guests Troy and Melissa Haas from HopeQuest Ministries in Woodstock, Georgia to share with us this weekend. Details about their ministry with us today and how you can benefit the most from their time with us are on the bulletin insert inside. We recognize the sensitive nature of this topic, and so Avenue Kids will minister to our children up through 5th grade during both Worship hours this morning. We believe that today will be important for us all to grow in our biblical understanding of this topic, and we encourage you to engage as much as is helpful with the opportunities available to you this morning and afternoon. Just a quick side note – our LifeGroups *will be* meeting as normal today.
It’s not too late to nominate someone you know for a Thanksgiving food basket. You can also help our youth assemble and deliver the baskets on Saturday November 18th, or you can give a special gift to our benevolence fund for this (and other) holiday season needs.
If you don’t have a Church Mailbox (located in the hallway near the Children’s Ministry Welcome Counter), please let our secretary Morgan know. We love you and thank the Lord for you.
